DIVERSIONAL SIGN ADVERTISING POLICY
1.0
PURPOSE To
allow community groups access to the advertising panel located on the
three diversional signs on #1 Highway to promote major events or
activities occurring in the City of Portage la Prairie.
All events must create a high profile
and significant economic benefit for the City through the large number
of estimated spectators and tourists. 2.0
DEFINITIONS OF DIFFERENT TYPES EVENTS THAT CAN BE ADVERTISED

PROCEDURE FOR AN ADVERTISING
PANEL REQUEST: Each
group requesting the use of the advertising panels is responsible for
covering the total costs for the manufacturing of the panels All
advertising panels must adhere to the architectural measurements of
the signs and the City of Portage la Prairie in its sole discretion
must approve all panels in advance of installation. The
City of Portage la Prairie will install and remove the advertising
panels. The
group will submit a written request to the Economic and
Community
development Department indicating the exact words to be displayed on
the advertising panels, and the dates for the panels to be displayed. The
group shall receive a written response in regard to their request
indicating the actions to be
undertaken
by
the group and the City. The
group will provide the signs to the City of Portage la Prairie for
installation a minimum of 5 working days prior to the requested date
of display. Upon
the passing of the requested display dates, the City of Portage
la Prairie will take down the
advertising panels and the group is responsible for picking them up
from the City. 4.0 GENERAL Commercial
business will not be permitted to advertise on the panels. The
City of Portage la Prairie should have sole authority in determining
what types
of events may be advertised. Design
standards are as follows: three red
corrugated plastic sign boards 4.07 m long
x 0.35 m wide
with minimum 8’’ Arial Bold white reflective lettering.
All signs must
include the name and date of the event. There
shall be no charge to any groups for the use of the City diversional
signage.
