FORT LA REINE MUSEUM AND PIONEER VILLAGE

Come and explore Fort la Reine Museum and Pioneer Village. It is named for the first Fort in the area built by La Verendrye in 1738 on the Assiniboine River. To step onto the grounds of the Museum is to step into the pages of history. Many buildings are original and have been moved to the museum site. It features a trading post, blacksmith’s shop, stable, schoolhouse, church, and much more! The main building displays historical artifacts, Indian beadwork, tools and other domestic items. There is a picnic area and refreshments available on site. It is home to the private railway car of Sir William Van Horne, a driving force in the construction of the CPR in the 19th Century and Western Canada’s largest Allis Chalmers Museum! Groups are welcome and guided tours are available by arrangement. Wheelchair accessible--Stroller and wheelchair available on site.
