ISLAND PARK

Crescent Road & Royal Road South

Portage la Prairie’s Gem! Our amazing “Island in the City” is a scenic park that is second to none! Created by an oxbow of the Assiniboine River, the horseshoe-shaped setting is home to several playground areas, picnic sites, and recreational facilities. While on the Island you can observe the deer, challenge yourself in the hedge maze, or take a walk along the scenic limestone trails. Enjoy the beautiful display of birds at the bird pen and the abundance of Canada Geese that call Crescent Lake home.

If you are interested in sports, you can enjoy a round of golf at the 18-hole course, or watch the water skiing at the Water Ski Manitoba site on the lake. Don’t forget to try a game of tennis on the 4 newly resurfaced courts! The park is a fantastic site for walking, jogging, cycling, rollerblading, or trying out your new scooter! Visit our brand new Splash Island featuring 2 giant waterslides, a kiddie slide, tot pool, lazy river, and many other exciting amenities--this outdoor leisure waterpark is fun for the whole family!

The winter creates a wonderland in the park as the duck pond is turned ice rink, a toboggan slide is created and cross-country ski trails are groomed. There are 2 washroom facilities, 3 picnic facilities and a performing stage that have power outlets. There is a wheelchair accessible pathway and park admission is free to the public. It is so beautiful you really must see it to believe it! Contact Parks Manager Dave Green at 239-8325

Rotary Centennial Fountain located on Crescent Lake was launched in the summer of 2005.
