The primary functions for the Tourism & Special Projects division with the City are to develop, promote and evaluate tourism, leisure and economic opportunities on behalf of the City of Portage la Prairie. The Manager works closely with other tourism/service sector providers and related groups or organizations that are interested in attracting regional, provincial, or national meetings, conventions, special events or sport opportunities to the City.

The City of Portage la Prairie is committed to tourism as an emerging industry, and sees numerous opportunities for the business community and citizens to benefit from it.
