STREET SWEEPING/SNOW CLEARING
When required, street sweeping and snow clearing will take place the
next working day after garbage collection in your area if conditions
warrant.
PARKING BAN INFORMATION
In the Event of a major snow storm,
the Mayor may authorize a City wide parking ban to allow the streets
to be cleaned. This ban would be in effect from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00
p.m. and would last until all city streets have been cleared. Parking
would not be allowed on any city street during this time. Several
signs around the City display the status of the ban. You may also
call 857-PARK for information regarding the ban.
PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE REGIONAL LANDFILL
Residents may deliver waste to the
Portage la Prairie Regional Landfill site located 12 km north of the
City on PR 240 and 8 km east on PR 227. Tipping Fees of $25.00 per
metric tonne apply to all City Residents and all Commercial Users
within the RM of Portage. Tipping Fees for all users outside the
Rural Municipality are $37.50 per metric tonne.

SOLID
WASTE/RECYCLING COLLECTION
The City of Portage la Prairie operates a 5-day solid waste collection
cycle. Schedules may be obtained at City Hall, or by telephoning
the Operations Department at 239-8346. You may also view the garbage
collection schedule on-line by clicking
here. Garbage collection is on the front street year
round. It is advised that you put your garbage out prior to 7:00 a.m.
on your collection day. Recyclable material is collected on a 10-day
cycle on the same day as garbage pick-up.

SEWER BLOCKAGE
If you experience sewer blockage problems at your home, please
call a plumber of your choice. The City will pay the plumber's costs
if the blockage is in the main line, or if it is
in the sewer service line and caused by tree roots from a City
boulevard tree. If the problem is caused by roots from a City tree, a
sample of the roots must accompany any claims.
