in-line backwater valve subsidy program

The City of Portage la Prairie and Province of Manitoba have once again introduced a subsidy program to help homeowners protect their basement from flooding caused by overloaded sewers during severe weather.

City Council has allocated up to $10,000 from the 2013 Utility Budget to participate in the subsidy program.  Applications will be received on a "first come, first served" basis.  Under the program, the City and Province will each provide 30% of the cost up to $500.00 each, of the valve installation with property owners paying the balance.  This means the proposed subsidy program would pay 50^ of the cost of installing in-line sewer backwater valves to a maximum of $1,000 per household.

Applications are available at City Hall at 97 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie, MB or get it online by clicking here.
