In January of 2015, AECOM Canada Ltd. was engaged to prepare a Conceptual Design for the Island Park Bridge Replacement.
The scope of the work included preparation of conceptual plans three or more options including the following: minimum two lane vehicle access across Crescent Lake; accommodating Highway truck loading; a pedestrian walkway; cyclist access; bridging to allow for water flow from west to east and small boat passage; lighting; and landscaping. Also included were: optional intersection designs including conventional intersections and roundabouts at each end of the bridge; and preparation of conceptual cost estimates
At their July 13, 2015 meeting, City Council accepted the Conceptual Design Report for the Island Park Bridge Replacement, and directed Administration to proceed with the issuance of a Request for Proposals for Engineering services for the development of preliminary designs and cost estimates for a three arch culvert design, subject to receipt of a Municipal Roads and Bridges grant
