The City of Portage la Prairie wishes to provide notice to the community about potential water billing discrepancies found in recent water bills.
Due to a conflict between our financial software and the new water meter reading software, recent water bills may contain discrepancies. Area 3 water bills (north of the tracks) issued in August 2016 with a due date of September 6, 2016 may contain minor billing discrepancies and Area 1 water bills (south of Saskatchewan Ave) issued in September 2016 with a due date of October 18, 2016 may see larger billing discrepancies.
The City of Portage la Prairie recently became aware of these inconsistencies and is working hard to correct the issue. We are re-generating and re-issuing water bills for Areas 1 & 3. These bills will be clearly marked as a revised water bill and will replace the bills issued in August and September.
Customers who have already made a payment on their account will see this as a credit on their revised water bill. The City of Portage la Prairie will not be processing the Area 1 pre-authorized payments scheduled for October 18th. The revised water bill will indicate the date the city will process your pre-authorized payment.
As a result, future water bills will be delayed and will not be generated until these software conflicts have been corrected. We encourage all citizens to make regular payments on their accounts despite not receiving a water bill
We recognize and apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our citizens and are working very hard to correct these errors and integrate these two software programs.
