The City of Portage la Prairie in conjunction with the Portage Regional Recreation Authority is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant from Heritage Canada in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The grant funding is being used to construct a raised stone bed in front of Stride Place which will hold various plants and shrubs.

The official unveiling of this project including a plaque to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will occur on Canada Day, July 1st as part of PRRA’s Canada Day celebrations.  The Honourable Janice C. Filmon, C.M., O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba will be present to unveil this project.

City residents and visitors are encouraged to attend the unveiling ceremony at 11 AM on July 1st.  Wear your garden party outfit and hat in honor of this occasion.  A limited number of commemorative pins and British flags will be given to those attending the ceremony which will be held at the project’s site.
