Effective Monday, December 21, 2020, access will be restored to all City owned playground equipment and outdoor fitness equipment located in the following playgrounds and greenspaces:

  1. McKay Playground
  2. 9th St Playground
  3. Prosvita Park
  4. Central Park
  5. Dalzell (7-11) Park
  6. Koko Platz Playground
  7. Bjorn Park (Koko Platz Community Club)
  8. Caithness Street Playground
  9. Island Park Playground
  10. Crescent Lake Path Exercise Equipment

The City of Portage la Prairie will also begin the construction and preparation of four outdoor rinks for public use.

These outdoor rinks are located at Prosvita Park (3rd St NW & 7th Ave NW), North Memorial School (6th Ave NE), Red River College (5th St SE & Saskatchewan Ave) and McKay Ave Park (Kitty Corral Park).

Closed signs at each of these locations will be removed and new signs will be installed, reminding users that current public health orders must be adhered to while accessing equipment, including:

  • Persons engaging in outdoor sporting or recreational activities must maintain a separation of at least 2 meters from each other, unless they reside in the same residence; and
  • Persons must not engage in outdoor sporting or recreational activities as part of a group of more than five persons, unless all persons in the group reside in the same residence.

Please note that the City of Portage la Prairie does not sanitize or disinfect this equipment. We recommend that all users practice regular handwashing or sanitizing.
