3 days per week (21 hours)

Under the Supervision of the Fire Chief/Director of Public Safety, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for all administrative duties for the Portage Fire Department. Assists with the initial response when fire and rescue calls are received and provides back-up for the members during an emergency.

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of office procedures, equipment and able to operate paging systems, radios and programs including Fire Pro 2 and Fire Department Management. Candidates must have the ability to prepare correspondence, documents, and reports within deadlines. Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to act in a highly professional manner, have excellent attention to detail, and is reliable.

These qualifications would normally be acquired through completion of grade 12 and an administrative assistant program or equivalent. A minimum of two years experience in a general office environment is required.
