We're Hiring - Building Maintenance
The City of Portage la Prairie is accepting resumes for the Building Maintenance position. Under the supervision of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the building maintenance performs duties related to the operation, repair and maintenance of all municipal building including but not limited to carpentry tasks, such as painting, drywall, hanging shelves, installing doors, or assembling furniture; plumbing such as fixing leaky faucet; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning such as changing filters; and troubleshooting similar issues. Will be required to work at various City facilities such as City Hall, library, water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping facilities and other City owned facilities.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 11 plus an additional vocational program of up to one year, or Grade 12 graduation or equivalent. Over one year experience, up to and including two years in general maintenance. Capable of physical manual labour and able to lift up to 50 lbs. A valid driver’s license and first aid certification is required. Ability to communicate effectively, work independently and as part of a team.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with 1 hour for lunch.
The current wage for this position is $24.04 per hour. This is a unionized position and is subject to all terms and conditions of the collective agreement or subsequent amending agreements.
