Denise Meeches - Binesii Ikwe, “Thunderbird Woman”

Denise is a proud member of Long Plain First Nation and an Anishinaabe woman with a deep connection to her family, community, and culture. She has been dancing Fancy Shawl since she could walk, carrying with her a lifelong love and appreciation for the powwow.

Denise is passionate about creating opportunities for youth to connect with their culture, language, and community. She believes strongly in passing teachings on to the next generation and helping youth grow strong in their identity, confidence, and pride.

We are honoured to welcome Denise Meeches as one of our Head Dancers. Her dedication to dance, culture, and youth is an inspiration, and we look forward to the energy and spirit she will bring to the arena.
