Collection Schedules

The City of Portage la Prairie operates a 5-day solid waste collection cycle. Garbage collection is on the front street year round. Solid waste carts should be put out prior to 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.

To ensure you don’t miss your garbage collection day, download the free “MWM Environmental” mobile app in your app store. On the app or the MWM website (MWMEnviro.ca), enter your address to view your schedule, set up collection day reminders and get service alerts.

Bulky Waste Pickup Program

The City offers 4 FREE bulky waste collection pickups each year. Residents can place large items at the curb during designated weeks in April, July, September, and December, on their regular collection day. Items must weigh less than 100 pounds. Heavier items must be disposed of privately.

Please note any bulky items containing chlorofluorocarbons, such as freon, must have the substance removed by a certified tradesman and be tagged accordingly prior to collection.
