Weed Harvesting Update for Crescent Lake - July 18, 2025

We’re pleased to share that the City of Portage la Prairie has received approval from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to operate a weed harvester in Crescent Lake this summer!

While the exact timeline for this work is still being finalized, there are a couple of important factors to keep in mind:

• We need sufficient lake levels to safely deploy the harvester so we’re hoping for plenty of rain this summer!
• Our Crescent Lake Taskforce continues to work closely with the Province to find solutions that will allow us to pump water into the lake in compliance with Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) regulations.
