We're Hiring - Assistant Mechanic

The City of Portage la Prairie is accepting resumes for the position of an Assistant Mechanic. Under the general supervision of the Auto/Diesel Mechanic, the incumbent ensures all vehicles and equipment are serviced and maintained in good and safe operating order.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 plus a Journeyman mechanic certificate. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of four years experience in a related field and a valid Class 4 driver license with air brake endorsement. Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with ½ hour for lunch. 

The current wage for this position is $36.25 per hour. This is a unionized position and is subject to all terms and conditions of the collective agreement or subsequent amending agreements.
