Yard Waste Collection

Spring is here, and the City of Portage is once again offering free curbside yard waste collection.

This year’s program begins on Monday, April 27, 2026, and will run for four collection cycles. Yard waste must be placed at the curb on your regular collection day no later than 7:00 a.m.

There is no limit to the number of bags that may be set out for collection; however, each bag must not exceed 18 kg (40 lb). Yard waste must be placed in clear plastic refuse bags or compostable brown paper bags, which are available at various retail outlets. Coloured bags will not be collected.

Yard waste includes leaves, grass, and garden waste, but does not include tree trimmings.
