There has been a one-time temporary change in the sender's email address for your utility bills due to a scheduled software upgrade. Utility bills for e-billing customers in Area 3, north of the tracks, were sent from the email address cityplap@gmail.com, as opposed to the usual utilityclerk@city-plap.com. This change is a one-time occurrence for e-billing sent out today, February 29, 2024.
The Business Storefront Improvement Grant intends to help business owners in Portage la Prairie improve the face of their businesses by providing funds for exterior building upgrades. In addition to improving the appearance of an individual building, these upgrades are expected to contribute to overall business enhancement. The Business Storefront Improvement Grant is a matching grant offered by the City of Portage la Prairie that will provide up to 50% of the project cost, with a maximum municipal contribution of $3,000 per project, from a total fund of $15,000.

The City of Portage la Prairie and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1002 (CUPE 1002) reached a three-year collective agreement effective January 1, 2024.
Did you know you may have as little as one minute to escape a home fire when your smoke alarm sounds? Smoke alarms save lives.
Having a smoke alarm increases your chance of survival by 50%, but only when an alarm is installed properly, has working batteries and within their 10-year service life.
The City of Portage la Prairie constructs and maintains 4 outdoor rinks for public use. City staff put up the boards, install the ice, and clean & flood the ice surface throughout the season. The rinks, located at Prosvita Park, North Memorial School, Red River College, and McKay Ave Park are now ready for public use! Please see the map for the addresses.
At their regular meeting on January 8, 2024, Community Futures Heartland gave a presentation to Council about the services they provide in our region.
