The City of Portage la Prairie and the Portage la Prairie Community Revitalization Corporation invite you to join us for a Public Open House on the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.

The Trans‑Canada Highway has reopened. As a result, the emergency shelter at the Herman Prior Center is now closed. Thank you to everyone who assisted stranded travellers during the storm, and please travel safely.

Snow crews are back at it today, but will pause routine snow clearing until Tuesday. Today, our crews will focus on removing snow piles around the community that have built up over the holiday season. Our graders are also widening and shaping roadways of concern in Zone 4. 

Crews are working on routine snow clearing. Each day, our graders will re-plow and widen roadways in residential zones that are scheduled for solid waste pickup next. Today, December 30, we will be cleaning up Zone 2.

The City of Portage la Prairie’s Operations Department announces that the second free bulky waste pick-up week is coming up on December 29th, 2025 to January 5th, 2026.
